TSA-Groping-Granny

Texans love liberty, but we have lost liberty in many ways over the years.  From red light cameras, to civil asset forfeiture, to militarization of police, to unconstitutional groping at the airports, to loss of the ability to use natural substances such as marijuana as we see fit, we are less free than we once were.  That needs to change.

It’s always been a bother to me, although I’m grateful you’re here to represent it’s importance and remind all Texans about how much we really should be grateful for it today, that it’s called “Civil Liberties”. It might be the old scholar in me thinking we have a dozen better words for it, but from my understanding of history a “liberty” is something that is threatened to be taken away at any moment. Although this may be true in our case, for the “liberties” we take for granted in Texas today may very well become “memories” I highly doubt that’d ever be the case. That’s why I like to call it “Civil Necessities” – because, I ask, could every freedom we take for granted here in Texas possibly be is God-given and can we really rely on politicians like you to uphold our freedom? “Necessities”, on the other hand, should never be taken away, no matter what any politician says, especially from a people who fought and won it. I pray we never have to fight for what is necessary (like the right to bear whatever we deem necessary to defend our families against the current threats in the 21st century) because we all know a single fire arm isn’t going to cut it these days. That’s also why I think even armored bunkers are “necessary” for the protection of families and private property. Not just from other people but the natural elements. Anyways, I could go on and on and you have my support in either case! I pray my little spiel will give you ideas for your next public speech because this is exactly the reason so many Californians are going back to their roots, resettling in the free land their ancestors once settled in nearly 200 years ago…

    Yours truly,

You might want to list our natural liberties as defined in the US and Texas Constitutions.
